Shut the Box

A fun and engaging dice game that builds quick number recognition, addition, subtraction, number bonds, and comparison skills.

🧠 Good for:

✔️ Subitizing – Quickly recognizing dice patterns without counting

✔️ Addition – Adding numbers from dice, adding leftover numbers

✔️ Number Bonds – Breaking numbers into parts (e.g., ways to make 7: 3+4, 2+5, 1+6)

✔️ Number Comparison – Comparing which scores are bigger or smaller

✔️ Subtraction – Finding the difference between leftover points to see who won

🎯 Goal:

Have the lowest total score by shutting the number tiles.

🎲 How to Play:

1️⃣ Stand all the number tiles up.

2️⃣ Roll two dice and add the numbers.

3️⃣ Shut any combination of tiles that add to the total. 

Example: Roll a 7 → shut 7, or 3+4, or 2+5, etc.

4️⃣ Keep rolling and shutting until no more moves are possible.

5️⃣ Add up the numbers left standing.
